Engineers Without Borders Alaska Professional Chapter partnered with the Malawi Children’s Village (MCV) in 2008 to install potable water for the boarding school and orphanage located in the Mangochi region of Malawi.
The project was commissioned in 2012. MCV project team member, Mike Moora, traveled to MCV in June 2012 for final system construction. A second project team member, Kevin Bingley, traveled to MCV in July 2012 to commission the system and train staff on operation and maintenance. Other team members, John Pepe, Chase Nelson, Marc Johnson, Jake Horazdovsky, and Nancy Hibbert were also instrumental in design and implementation of the project.
The water supply and treatment system has been functioning since that date. EWB-APC has assisted MCV with several modifications and upgrades to improve the reliability and reduce operating costs for the system.
